Today is Tuesday

the 6th day of May, 2014

and our last day of the Golden Week holidays. 

We drove out towards Inawashiro and then on to Aizuwakamatsu. 

It was a wonderful day - blue sky and about 15C. 

Being a public holiday the traffic was heavy.

Still some snow in the mountains although most of it has melted away.

We walked up this laneway 
and into the most 
amazing restaurant. 

Above is Wappa Meshi ..... wappa is the bowl, meshi is the rice. 

This was seriously delicious. 

 Chikako had tempura fish.....very crispy. 

Soba with cold soup and a stick of bitter leek. 

I saw these gorgeous purple pansies gently nodding in the breeze outside somebody's house. 

 They looked so happy ! 

We went sightseeing at Mt. Iimori

and climbed up sooooooooo many steps. 

 I saw this wonderful old tree in the garden just full of blossoms .....

how old is it ?  

I do not know, but it was not young.
