Yutaka Building

Friday
March 11th, 2011
2.46 pm Japan Time

I was holding the camera steady, it was everything else which was shaking!
One of the staggering aftershocks, not the big temblor itself.
This was taken about 4.40 pm from a different building.

A collapsed shop front.

The Yutaka Building, where I work.
This is an external corner after the big quake illustrating how much the building twisted.

These are internal photos of the Yutaka Building taken just after the biq quake.
They show, to some extent, the contortion which occurred.
This office was vacant at the time, hence bare concrete walls.
This is one floor directly below where I work and where I was when it hit.

My left fist illlustrates the size of the wound.

Strewn rubble, again inside the building, not outside.

I was sitting in front of this power point when the big quake hit.
The wall behind me buckled under the stress.

Things were simply blown out of the wall by the immense power of the big temblor.
