Saturday Evening

It is the start of a 3 day weekend in Japan 

although I had to work on Saturday, as per usual. 

After work, we went to the Inari Shrine Matsuuri ...then

to an izakaya for a casual dinner together. 

Dashi. 

Weather was nice, not chilly yet as Autumn approaches. 

Many people were at the festival. 

We decided to have dinner at an izakaya run by just one man. 

He prepared and served wonderful Japanese food. 

Looking out the window and seeing the festival. 

Sooooooooo good. 

Baked tomatoes in olive oil with herbs - more, more ! 

Steak, salad, potato wedges - the portion was enough. 

I do not want to eat American-sized. 

From outside looking into the izakaya where we had been sitting. 

Moon was very beautiful. 

We shared an enjoyable Saturday evening together

in This City.

Rainy, foggy, dreary ol` day

We decided to drive to Soma. 

Because of the nuclear situation, the fishing boats 

cannot work and were all lined up in the harbour. 

Very sad sight - so many wonderful boats. 

Some intrepid fishermen were trying to land one. 

I just felt so sad. 

But I quickly cheered up when we were served a delicious seafood luncheon. 

Wonderful Japanese food; the best taste !

We decided to go out for a picnic

at Four Season Park. 

We packed our new picnic set, plus other stuff. 

So much stuff to take that we loaded it all onto a trolley.

Beautiful early Autumnal day in the park - the trolley also served as a base

for the picnic set. Too convenient.



How thoughtful, a can of my favourite beer, too

Also means that I can`t drive back either.

Double bonus for me !



We just spent most of the daylight hours lolling about, reading and enjoying.



 

 

Chikako discovered that we had made a new little friend who really did

attach himself to the bag.  Difficult to get off, but finally I did and put him back onto

a bush to enjoy nature.

 



Chikako drove to another park and we went for a walk

to enjoy the changing leaves.

So different to Australia.

End of a trying week....we  decided to go out for dinner together. 

We returned to a small place near our apartment. 

Food is great, staff are very friendly. 

This green vegetable was from Okinawa.

Not gyoya, something else but very delicious.

First time that either of us had eaten it.
