Home visits from Maternal and Child Welfare Services ca. 1950. These photos were taken around the time there was a diphtheria outbreak in Brisbane, resulting in some infant deaths, and the Health Department was urging parents to have their babies immunised.

Other issues being highlighted at the time were crying, breast-feeding, weaning, feeding, hygiene and home harmony for a happy, healthy baby. There was lots of practical advice published, including the multiple reasons your baby might be crying all day and night and what to do about it. Pics in the collection at QSA.

End of the financial year

Lions Mansion in Ogura Cho is currently 

undergoing some major maintenance work. 

Was there last month, workers were focussed 

on the other side of the building then. 

Most interesting, methinks. 

Wish that I had known about kangaroo words before now. 

Just about to become July as we race towards Christmas.
