Thank you, Lord !

January 3rd

An extremely windy Tuesday
3rd January, 2011
49th Anniversary of my Volkmanns Ischemic Constricture.

*****************************

We went to feed the swans `n ducks at the river today.

We bought a new packet of white bread especially for them.

They all seemed to enjoy, as did we.
Then we came back and roasted a chicken for late luncheon ...

Gaijin food but delicious nonetheless ....

Monday
2nd January, 2011

********************

We caught the local train from This City down to That City.
New Year`s Luncheon with the outlaws, which went very well indeed.
They are such nice people.
Then some retail therapy at USUI in the BIG Sale !

We had a lot of stuff, we were kinda tired,
it was very cold, etc. so we treated ourselves
to a New Year`s Shinkansen ride back Home.

Below: A fully-laden southbound Yamabiko patiently waits
for a green signal.

Our northbound Shink is rollin` on in ........ Time to go Home.

2012 Osechi-ryori

Sunday
December 1st, 2012
This City

******************

Copied directly from Wikipedia.

Osechi-ryōri (御節料理 or お節料理) are traditional Japanese New Year foods. The tradition started in the Heian Period (794-1185). Osechi are easily recognizable by their special boxes called jūbako (重箱), which resemble bentō boxes. Like bentō boxes, jūbako are often kept stacked before and after use.

Chikako prepared traditional Osechi for our New Year Celebrations.
As per usual, it was superb :)

December 31st, 2011

Saturday Evening
31st December, 2011
In sleepy ol` This City.
Not many people about.

We wanted to eat Soba Noodles .... however everyplace was shut.
Huh ??

So we defaulted back to our old fav; Go_Chan`s Yatai.

YakiSoba always goes down well.

No need to worry about traffic or pedestrians
in Paseo Dori....kinda empty, methinks.

Back to Lions and we did an early toast to 2012.
Health, Wealth & Happiness.
Jacobs Creek Sparkling Shiraz - Red Champers.

 Chikako then started preparing Osechi.

Yum, yum.

We wish you a Blessed New Year in Christ.

Yuki _san

Friday Night
30th December, 2011
This City

**************

Long Time,
No See Yuki_san.

Chikako & I met Yuki_san for dinner and drinks this very night.

Our first time ever at this izakaya.
It was really good !

Above: A somewhat genki Yuki_san !
Below: Chikako & me.

Outside, by the train station are many thousands of birds, like Starlings.
They roost in the trees there every night and are terribly raucous.

It`s time to say, Good Night.

Above: We are Blessed, we are so happy together.
I worry about my old friend, Yuki_san.

Below: Not so warm tonight.

And tomorrow is New Year`s Eve.
Chikako & I are going to go and eat Soba Noodles together
to herald in 2012.
